PROJECT #3

play with Fire

pROJECT OVERVIEW

This project was created on a whim as an exploration of fire mechanics, crystal-like textures, and expressive hand anatomy in motion.

STORY BOARD

Before animating, it has become a habit for me to start with a storyboard. For this project, the storyboard was made up of very simple, rough sketches — not to perfect the visuals, but to clearly communicate my idea and intent to my professor. The animation itself was inspired by a short video I came across on YouTube, and translating that inspiration into my own version helped me think through timing, composition, and motion. Although the final animation is brief, consisting of just five scenes, the storyboard played an important role in shaping how those moments flowed together.

FINAL ANIMATION

When I reached the final stage, adding music wasn’t part of the original plan. However, the animation kept reminding me of a particular song, so I decided to include it. At the time, I was still learning how to properly sync motion with music, which resulted in the animation being slightly off-beat in places. Even so, I’m happy with how this piece turned out — it captures a moment of experimentation and growth, and it remains one of those small projects I genuinely enjoyed creating.

CONCLUSION & FUTURE SCOPE

This project was all about experimentation. From quick storyboards to exploring fire, texture, and hand movement, each step was a learning moment. Even with imperfect music timing, I’m happy with how it turned out — it captures curiosity, process, and growth in a small but meaningful way.
